What was new at the 83rdToulouse International Fair 2015 at the Toulouse Exhibition Park this year? Can you tell us a little about the organisation of the fair?

The Toulouse Fair lasts for 10 days. It is an event that our visitors mark in their diaries.

The Toulouse International Fair is one of the highlights in the cultural, economic and community life of the region, and this year's 83rd edition was no exception. The event is a genuine spring-time tradition for the inhabitants of Toulouse and the Midi Pyrénées region as a whole, with a host of different stands presenting products and services catering for every taste and age group, thanks to 650 exhibitors from a wide variety of sectors representing every aspect of daily life.

The fair was open to visitors from 4 to 13 April 2015 at the Toulouse Exhibition Park. A total of more than 90,000m2 of exhibition area was laid out in a convivial, lively and fun environment divided into 4 main sectors:

-      The home: decoration, gardening, fixtures and fittings, comfort

-      Leisure activities

-      Food: local produce and products from around the world

-      Crafts and associations

Each edition of the fair has a main theme with associated activities and events. This year, there was special tribute to Rock, with an exhibition designed by Philippe Manœuvre, concerts and demonstrations of Rock dancing.

In your opinion, what specific skills and expertise are required for organising the Fair, to ensure its success as regards the exhibitors and in terms of visitor satisfaction?

To make the Toulouse Fair a success for exhibitors, you need to blend several ingredients. Firstly you have to attract visitors who come to purchase products and to breathe life into the Fair.

Obviously, this means creating activities and events organised during the Fair, such as the sports village, the circus and, this year for example, events linked to the theme of "Rock".

Exhibitors also expect to reach a new public and notably a young audience that need to discover the Fair and appreciate its appeal so that they too will become loyal visitors.

In order to attract this target audience, we are extremely active on social networks, and in contact with schools, and leisure centres and so on. We also come up with events and activities in line with the theme of the year. This year, Rock concerts involving popular groups on the Toulouse music scene were organised to ensure the Fair was positioned to attract a new, young public.

As regards visitors, they come to the Fair to find solutions to their home improvement projects and to take in the Fair experience.

Visitors should leave the Fair having found what they were looking for, and having treated themselves to other purchases. Equally, they should have had a good time thanks to the fun and lively atmosphere at the Toulouse International Fair.

Finally, goodies are handed out so that visitors can take home tangible souvenirs from their day at the Toulouse Exhibition Park.
