Located in the crossroads of Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany and France, the centre will be named in honor of Robert Shuman who was strongly commited to European construction. The construction site was inaugurated by Manuel Valls, French Prime-minister in the framework of Franco-German Council of Ministers on 7th April in presence of politicians and projet majour partners.

For Metz Mayor, Dominique Gros “This Conference Centre will be reknowned throughout Grand Est Region, expanding borders to our heighbours and friends”. Therefore the cross boarder positioning of this venue was defined.

Facility ideally integrated in the city centre.

The Conference Centre is located very close to the city centre, the railway station and the Centre Pompidou-Metz, linking Metz historical centre and the Amphitheatre district.

This brand new modern venue with 1200 seated auditorium, 16 meetings rooms and 3440 sqm of exhibition space will strengthen Metz business tourism offer.

Strong architectural identity

The project designed by Wilmotte & Associates agency is supported by  four ideas:

  • Material: Jaumont stone creates a dichotomy between the massive nature and lightness of the stone and represents the Metz architectural heritage
  • Verticality: the use of stone in the form of slender blades over the entire height of the building makes the building look lighter
  • Light: the front is designed to cast shadows and plays with natural light, varying opacity and transparence
  • Space: open to the city, the Centre offers public areas and passages within the buildin
