GL EVENTS AT 2015 MILAN UNIVERSAL EXPO

As the 2015 Milan Universal Expo opens May 1st, Christophe Guerin, the F&B Director of GL events, looks back over key moments in the succesful call for tender for the France Pavilion.

As you read this article, you will find out about "Café des Chefs" (Chefs' Café) and the Boutique (Shop) presented at the Exhibition which takes place in Milan.

     
     

Which specific skills and expertise enabled GL events to win the call for tender for the France Pavilion at the 2015 Universal Expo in Milan? What was the company's added value in relation to the other candidates?

The real competitive advantage that GL events held over other candidate was absolutely its comprehensive range of skills.

Thanks to its extensive expertise, GL events is one of the few major operators in the events catering sector. This enabled the company to position itself as a truly legitimate partner, and hence represent French gastronomy at the Milan Universal Expo for the next six months.

Today, GL events can easily meet high volume catering requirements with ensuring high quality service and remaining extremely competitive.

The group has references that highlight its leading position in the event catering business, supported by partnerships with great chefs as well as intangible assets as the "Bocuses d'Or and the SIRHA Show.

 

Can you tell us about "Café des Chefs" and "Boutique" in the France Pavillion? How will they be represented at the Universal Expo?

Before speaking about the two activities managed by GL events in the France Pavilion in Milan, it is important to note that the Universal Expo is reputed the third largest international event in terms of visitors, with the number of participants ranging from 22 to 25 million people.

 

LE CAFE DES CHEFS

"Café des Chefs" will represent French cuisine in every shape and form, from traditional products to haute gastronomy from starred chefs, bringning conviviality with outdoor terrace. This restaurant will have the highest number of stars at the event and in the world, so no less than 9 internationally reknowned chefs with a total of fiftenn stars to their names.

Wa can already reveal some of the great names of French gastronomy who will be present at the Universal Expo  between 20 and 30 days in "Le Café des Chefs" restaurant: Regis Marcon, Yannick Alléno, Fabrice Desvignes, François Adamski, Franck Putelat, Michel Roth, Thibaut Ruggeri and some others.

The lay out will be done in a way so that the chefs can transmit their know how and share their expertise during regular demonstrations.

 

LA BOUTIQUE

The aim of the "Boutique" (Shop) in the France Pavilion is to make professional products accessible and affordable to general public and bring some souvenirs about this tasting experience.

Visitors will be able to stroll around the shop and leave with souvenirs reminding them of the restaurant but also products that are representative of French culture and heritage in general. For example, visitors can buy chef's apron, the dinnerware used to sefve the meal in the restaurant, or the cndiments used to prepare the dishes. They can also purchase illustrated books on decoration, design, fashion, architecture and many other topics which highlights namely young French entrepreneurs and their expertise.
